TwoTrees Bluer - Direct drive mod with Voron 0.1 design.
prusaprinters
<p><strong>So, after many iterations and some bad behavior from my printers, I'm finally releasing this mod, or should i say costume?</strong></p><figure class="image image-style-align-center image_resized" style="width:50.34%;"><img src="https://media.prusaprinters.org/media/prints/69949/rich_content/c7fd4c5c-188c-47bf-9f4e-d95653d42734/img_20210627_230004.jpg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%22da703897-4b05-424e-b635-4cf9074287be%22%2C%22w%22%3A1994%2C%22h%22%3A2162%7D"></figure><p><strong>Basically, this is a custom front plate for my direct drive mod.</strong></p><p><strong>As a Voron owner and a big fan of Voron printers and parts. This time i thought it would be cool if i could put some Voron Design in my Bluer 3d printer, so i took the v0 printing head and ripped, resized, mirrored, and more to these poor Cowling Dragon and make it at new costume for my Twotrees bluer since it's not a complete Voron 0 printhead.</strong></p><p><strong>If you are coming from the last mod, be aware that although this is a “upgrade” for my last direct drive project i improved the hotend and bltouch mount, now the bltouch is way more rigid and have a better looking since the last project. So, these parts are not compatible with the older release. </strong></p><figure class="image image-style-align-center image_resized" style="width:50%;"><img src="https://media.prusaprinters.org/media/prints/69949/rich_content/51dd22b0-802d-4520-8d03-244476e4f43b/img_20210628_205726.jpg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%223c43bba4-ab69-470e-bd0d-2af5fa2bbbb7%22%2C%22w%22%3A3000%2C%22h%22%3A4000%7D"></figure><p><strong>The BOM is simplified this time, and i reduced the number of components, there's no need for very special components like brass inserts, but you still need to use the mandatory component, a pancake stepper motor. I have no plans for stock motor support.</strong></p><p><strong>You will need the stock bolts from your machine, and some additional ones. That are:</strong></p><p><strong>2x M3 nuts</strong></p><p><strong>4x M3x8 or M3x10 bolts</strong></p><p><strong>2x M3x16 or M3x20 </strong></p><p><strong>zip ties</strong></p><p> </p><p><strong>About the printing settings and materials.</strong></p><p><strong>I only recommend printing this in ABS (well printed abs). PETG may work, but i do not tested, PLA will fail.</strong></p><p><strong>The parts are already on the printing orientation,</strong></p><p><strong>There's two front plates/ducts options, one the normal one and another thicker, that should be easier and stronger if you don't have the ideal layer adhesion for the thin walls.</strong></p><p> </p><p><strong>The BLtouch offset:</strong></p><p><strong>x_offset = 40</strong><br><strong>y_offset = 10</strong></p><p> </p><p><strong>The print settings:</strong></p><p><strong>.20 layer height</strong></p><p><strong>4 walls</strong></p><p><strong>5 bot and top perimeters </strong></p><p><strong>40% infill (i use triangles)</strong></p><p><strong>Thin walls enable.</strong></p><p><strong>No supports or brim are necessary. The files are pre supported and i added some removable round areas where warping would occur.</strong></p><figure class="image image-style-align-center image_resized" style="width:50%;"><img src="https://media.prusaprinters.org/media/prints/69949/rich_content/5df255f9-63a0-4b6d-8218-b16c52df195d/20210628_212251-collage.jpg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%220cc4bfc2-6ded-4450-aaf7-14529959651a%22%2C%22w%22%3A1024%2C%22h%22%3A1024%7D"></figure><p> </p><p><strong>The assembly is the fun part right?</strong></p><p><strong>You will need to cut the PTFE tube to the correct length cant give you a number, since it can be different on your machine, some PTFE connector can be bigger, you can use a different nozzle or all metal throat like me. So, you need to find the length for your machine.</strong></p><p><strong>Start putting you tube all way in the extruder, mark the bowden tube where its flush with the connector, take out the tube and insert on your hotend, do the same marking and mesure how much tube goes in on each part. Assembly the hotend and the extruder on the mount and measure the distance between the two bowden connector. Now sun the measurements and find how long you bowden tube needs to be.</strong></p><p><strong>Now assembly the hotend, extruder, stepper motor and bltouch on the printer. The BLtouch comes with a spacer, that should be mounted between the mount and the probe, you can resize it on z axis to get the perfect height for your bltouch pin.</strong></p><p><strong>For the part cooling fans, you will insert them with a little bending on the ducts, after the fans are inserted one small screw will ensure they are tight fitted. I also added some zip ties spots that you can secure your wires. The hotend fan will be attached with the front plate in the end.</strong></p><p><strong>I added JST connector on all wires of my hotend, they make maintenances easy and i can remove all the parts without hassle, if you can do the same, this is the time.</strong></p><figure class="image"><img src="https://media.prusaprinters.org/media/prints/69949/rich_content/1d2ae68e-4b31-4a02-9b1d-a245c790f015/img_20210622_132727-collage.jpg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%22ef469fa3-030a-46f6-89d4-4be90fe3e29e%22%2C%22w%22%3A2046%2C%22h%22%3A1535%7D"></figure><p><strong>The final results:</strong></p><figure class="image"><img src="https://media.prusaprinters.org/media/prints/69949/rich_content/1e60f2b2-b4dd-4e10-8c84-96c707df4b65/img_20210628_214440.jpg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%222bd5b635-11e1-4096-b0f4-76b9cccf5933%22%2C%22w%22%3A1907%2C%22h%22%3A2861%7D"></figure><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong>Let me know if have any questions or suggestions.
