Twopio - Dual-X-Carriage Printer
youmagine
I was inspired by the BCN3D Sigma and decided to design & build my own dual x carriage printer from scratch. The main frame is constructed with 30x30 aluminium extrusions, and I implemented as many (custom) aluminium CNC'd parts as possible for critical elements such as E3Dv6 mounts, motor mounts, enclosure, extruder, cantilever Z stage... While there are some 3D printed parts, the printer has the potential to print with dual colour/materials and duplication printing. The printer features an Ultratronics 1.0 32-bit controller board running Marlin (marlinkimbra), 6x TMC 2100 silent stepper drivers, a Raspberry Pi 3 & 7-inch touchscreen (Octoprint & TouchUI) + 160° camera. The build volume is 200x295x210mm, with MGN12 rails & carriages for XYZ and an SFU1204 Ballscrew for Z. Two Genuine E3D v6 hotends are included, along with a 400W (220V) 200x300 silicone heater under a 7mm aluminium tooling plate. All components are enclosed within the printer, with a maximum spool diameter of 33 cm (except for the controller board, which is located on the back).
