The Celtic Knot is a derivative of another knot, which has a continuous path. To create a closed path, modifications were made, resulting in a seven-crossing knot - see 7 sub 4 on Wikipedia and page 43 of maths.ed.ac.uk/aar/knots/celtic.pdf. The openSCAD code generates version one of this knot: celtic_ver1.stl. D. Moews suggested that a version with smooth curves would be more appealing, so he provided a Fortran program to calculate such a knot; running the code produced celtic_ver2.stl. Version 2 makes an attractive amulet, and both versions include Fortran and openSCAD code. Both require support, easily removable with tweezers. Note: Although the knot appears symmetrical, it actually lacks symmetry. A mirror image is included for constructing amulet pairs.
