Two Trees Sapphire S - XY motors mounts
thingiverse
Upper frame XY motors mounts. Based on Chris Kissling's (@chriskis3d) model, this design allows you to ditch the two heavy steel rods/couplings and give your printer a sleek look :). Note: - Use DIN125 washers (12 per each motor) for a secure assembly and to prevent plastic splitting; - Position the motor pulleys in different directions, check the photos. I suggest printing using PETG, 4 perimeters (for 0.4mm nozzle), and >40% infill. --------------- BOM per a motor: - 4 * M3x40mm bolts + 4 * DIN125 washers - motor bottom - 4 * M3x8mm bolts + 4 * DIN125 washers - motor top - 4 * M4x10mm bolts + 4 * DIN125 washers - frame - 4 * M4 T-nuts - frame - 1 * GT2 20 teeth, 5mm bore, 6mm wide motor pulley - 1 * long enough cable --------------- Many thanks to Minty Trebor (@MintyTrebor) for the comprehensive testing and suggestions!!! Example assembly approach: Remove existing rods, and unscrew stepper motors from the base Remove existing belts Unscrew the 4 x M3 bolts from the base of 1 stepper motor and attach to a bottom bracket using 4 x 40mm screws, ensuring cable plug is facing the front or rear of the bracket, not to the sides. Repeat for 2nd stepper motor. Fix a top bracket to 1 stepper motor (check you have a matching bottom & top pair of brackets) using 4 x 8mm M3 Bolts. Repeat for second stepper motor Attach GT2 Pulleys to both motor shafts (do not fully tighten yet) Attach steppers to frame with T nuts & 8mm/10mm bolts & washers. (Ensure the brackets are located roughly at the correct height for the alignment of the belts). Install new GT2 belts, (Tip: When tightening belts try to position the print head in the center of the frame, to ensure equal pressure is on all pulleys). Vertically align GT2 Pulleys on stepper shafts with GT2 Belt & frame idlers, then tighten grub screws to the stepper shaft. Make sure belts are aligned on all pulleys, and do not drift when the print head moves. Install Stepper motor cables. If your stepper motor GT2 pulleys have a different number of teeth from the original 20, check & Update step values for X/Y motors in your system config, (Eg. Changing to a 16 tooth pulley from a 20 gives a step value change from 80 to 100) Run printer checks (end stops etc) and re-calibrate any z offsets. ---------------- List of my Sapphire S modifications: - E3D V6, BLTouch adjustable mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3775330 - E3D V6 mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3714216 - XY motors mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3689256 - stock hotend mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3674354 - extruder mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3678938 - front panel: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3688987 - led lighting mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3674400 - bed clips: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3674381 - Z endstop mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3674394 - dampers: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3674368
