Two Trees Sapphire S enclosure with extruder on top
thingiverse
This enclosure empowers you to transport the extruder to sit atop the printer, effectively shortening the bowden tube to approximately 22 cms. You will need my bowden bracket, thing:3385280, to achieve this upgrade. With this modification, the Sapphire-S should be capable of printing with flexible filaments as well as ABS. Note that STL files are provided for the top and detector stand, but a CNC router is highly recommended to create the other parts due to their complexity. Without one, accuracy will be extremely difficult to achieve. If you still insist on making the parts by hand, consider redesigning the top part and all others so that the extruder sits precisely at dead center above the printer. This should make the parts easier to fabricate manually. This design is released under a creative commons license, allowing you to remix it freely as long as you acknowledge your source. The selection of hinges is left to your discretion, with numerous options available on thingiverse. You are also free to experiment with different spool holder designs, such as the one depicted in this project's picture. Feel free to hang the bowden tube and secure it with a rubber band from above, ensuring that it points upwards at all times. If you can think of a better way to do it, please share your idea!
