Two Trees Sapphire-S Enclosure Temperature Display
thingiverse
This is a straightforward mod to Sapphire-S that adds an enclosure temperature display. The temperature sensor module is connected to the 24V line from the power supply, but it's not integrated with any electronics since the motherboard lacks free sensor inputs. The BOM consists of: 1. DROK 100096 Micro LED Digital -55 to 125℃ Temperature Meter Gauge Panel (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D7AEKMO/ or https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1978670646.html) 2. 1x M3x16 SHCS 3. 3x M3x8 SHCS 4. 3x M3 T-nut 5. 1x M3 hex nut 6. (optional) 2-pin matching male/female connectors to extend the power supply wires to reach the PSU. 7. 2x crimp-on spade connector for connecting to PSU. 8. 2-conductor cable (about 1ft) Installation notes: My DROK unit came with very short power cables, so I had to extend them to reach the PSU since I wanted to mount the temperature display on the left of the LCD. I added a MicroFit 3.0 connector but it's not really necessary. The power cables are connected directly to the 24V output of the PSU using the spade connectors (polarity matters, double check!). The temperature probe can be installed wherever you want. I put mine just below the gantry, on the left wall near the front since I found that mounting towards the rear gives false readings because of the hotend fan exhaust. A simple printable mount (in 2 pieces) that can be attached to the aluminum extrusion is included. You can print a mirrored version if you want. The mount is a bit bulky but it was designed to provide some strain relief for the probe cable and prevent excessive bending (the cable is pretty stiff). The holes in the printed parts have intentionally tight tolerances because it's easier to enlarge them after printing than make them smaller :-). I found this tool pretty useful: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32916212734.html Source CAD files (Fusion 360) are also included if you want to make changes. Note that the 2020 extrusion in one of the files has a profile different than what's used in Sapphire-S but it doesn't matter, it's there mostly for illustration. The actual mount is designed for the correct profile (V-slot). Credits: The display mount was inspired by https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3690057
