Two Trees Bluer JB Direct Drive Mod
prusaprinters
Hello, this is a project that i am working since my bowden coupler failed, i remembered why i hate bowden setups, actually i hate the couplers. So, i designed a direct drive mount that is compatible with my cooling solution to upgrade my bluer.About the cooling solution:My objective was making the maintenance easier, so the access to everything is easier, the heatblock and nozzle is visible and the cables are not constrained on the mount and finally the hotend is mounted to the carriage. And use only the stock cooling components. The ducts are derivate from the Voron Design Project. (vorondesign.com) and all the credit goes to them. I only adapted to work with my mount. Some facts that you need to be aware:Only use this mod if you know what you are doing!!!This is for a pancake stepper motor (23mm), not compatible with the stock one.You will need a longer cable; you can extend the original or put a new one.I don't use the filament sensor, so in this mod it's not included.Check the changelog to see if i changed/added something. The bltouch offset for marlin is: X=+41.6 and Y=+8.7 mmThe ducts should be about 4.5mm higher than the nozzle tip.You will need:1x Nema 17 23mm1x 1.5m stepper motor cable ou extend yours. The stock bolts,hotend,bmg.2x m3x20mm4x m3x12mm1x m3x16mm1x m3 nut4x small plastic screws, the stock one work.Changelog:14/03/2021 - updated stl files, minor changes (smaller heat insert hole and bltouch mount tab to improve stability) and STEP files added.15/03/2021 - added the spacer for complete stock hotend.18/03/2021 - added front plate with slots for nuts, no need for heated insertes anymore if you don't have them.18/05/2021 - Big changes. Since in some cases a heat creep problem was detected with the spacer above the throat, I decided to remodel the front plate that mount the fan ducts, this time there's no need to use a different throat or the spacer, the complete stock parts are now compatible. If you already use the mod, mount and the ducts didn't change, the front plate and bltouch must be reprinted. A custom front plate without the heat inserts is available if you don't have heated inserts, ou can still use this mod. Also, the stl files are now oriented in recommended printing position. Print instructionsOnly the front plate need supports on the botton. everything else should print with no supports.I recommend printing these parts in ABS(or PETG?), 0.2mm layer height, 4 perimeters, 20% infill and 5 botton and top layers. If you print this, please post a make or photo. Thanks.
