Two Toroidal Polyhedra
thingiverse
Here are two toroids, the first a regular toroidal solid with 24 six-sided faces, 48 vertices, and 72 edges; this was downloaded from DM McCooey's visual polyhedral site - see http://dmccooey.com/polyhedra/RegularHexagonalToroid24.html, as well as http://symmetry-us.com/Journals/visbook/szilassi/index.html. The second torus was formed by merging a mirror image of the aforementioned regular torus with itself, resulting in an attractive symmetrical polyhedron. OpenSCAD code is provided below. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3 mm Notes: Obviously, this design needs support. The Makerbot software offers a breakaway support option that is quite helpful. Symmetrical Toroid Properties: The symmetrical toroidal solid was discovered to have 100 vertices, 46 faces, and 156 edges; if correct, it would mean that it contains 6 holes - see http://www.minortriad.com/szilassi.html
