Two-Tone and Deeper Cable Chain
thingiverse
I recently installed a Noctua fan in the hotend of my Ender 3, adding bulk through connectors and knife splices to the wire harness between the extruder bracket and the hot end. However, the modified harness no longer fit inside the Ender 3 cable chain. I really liked that chain and wanted to reuse its attachments at both ends. To achieve this, I pulled johnniewhiskey's STL file into Fusion360 and adjusted the link to accommodate my new bulkier harness. The result was a design deep enough to enclose the modified wire harness. When I tried printing the entire thing in silky green PLA, it proved too brittle for building the chain. The links kept snapping like potato chips. To solve this issue, I decided to reuse the green links but print the links themselves in black PETG and attach small silky green tops using Krazy glue. To simplify the gluing process, I even created a small jig to help center the top onto its link while applying the adhesive. Here, you can find the uploaded Fusion360 file, along with STL files, including a copy of the original link from johnniewhiskey's design. If you choose to make this thing, please share your creation by posting it. Enjoy!
