A two-stroke engine is an internal combustion engine that executes a power cycle utilizing just two piston strokes (up and down movements) per crankshaft revolution. This contrasts with a "four-stroke engine," which requires four piston strokes to complete a power cycle across two crankshaft revolutions. In a two-stroke engine, the end of combustion and the start of compression occur simultaneously, with intake and exhaust (or scavenging) processes happening concurrently.
