Two Shepherds with a Dog
myminifactory
A Fragment of a Depiction of the Nativity Created in Northern Italy's Piacenza Province. The birth of Jesus is celebrated as a fulfillment of God's divine will, marking a moment when the world was saved from sin. The first individuals to discover this event were shepherds, who occupied the lower rungs of society. This fact holds significant weight, contrasting with more powerful characters in the Nativity, such as Emperor Augustus, and reflecting Mary's words in the Magnificat: "He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble." The shepherds also complemented the Three Magi, a gentile group later believed to be from each of three continents known at that time, representing the initial declaration of the Christian message to all peoples worldwide.
