Two Part Balcony Planter
prusaprinters

This planter should fit on balcony rails with a width of up to 45mms.

It comes with 3 options you can combine as you wish:

self-watering reservoir planter with water level indicator (TBD)

draining planter with drain hole for excess water

normal bucket style planter without any special holes

The inserts can be easily removed to switch plants or check for issues, simply use any suitable strap you can find and attach it to the insert with a M3 screw or print the included handle on your printer.(TBD)

If you don't have enough plants to warrant the big version, you can use one half together with the mounting clip for a half-sized planter with a bit of storage space for gardening tools like scissors or thread.

Print the buckets with the top-side down so you save on support material for the 90deg edge, works okayish even without support if you print it at a 45°angle to the bed (rotation in z, so the nozzle makes straight lines across the width of the print, tested on i3mega)

After printing simply rotate the two halves against each other to combine them together.

Update: I've added v3 of the planter-halves with a little greater tolerances.

Update: New version 4 with increased tolerances for “less than ideal” printers and bit more ease of assembly, also uses slicer hack now to work better without support.
