The renowned artist initially focused on crafting lifelike busts before transitioning to animal sculpture, drawing inspiration from the fascinating creatures found in Paris's "Jardin des Plantes". His work was showcased at esteemed exhibitions within the Nationale Society Salons ("La Société Nationale") and he participated in the Animal Artists Society's events as far back as 1946. Collaborations with the prestigious Sèvres Manufactory ("Manufacture de Sèvres") also resulted in the creation of his terracotta pieces being cast in bronze. After a period of relative obscurity, his artistry has experienced a revival since 2000, thanks to the rediscovery of some of his bronze sculptures from French collectors' estates. This sculptor's remarkable talent during the Inter-War Period has only recently been acknowledged, and he remains one of the most unjustly overlooked artists of his time. The statue in question was proudly displayed at the 2017 London Masterpiece Fair.
