Charles Delhommeau initially focused on crafting busts before transitioning to animal sculpture, drawing inspiration from the Paris "Jardin des Plantes" menagerie. His work was showcased in the National Society Salons ("La Société Nationale") and he participated in exhibitions organized by the Animal Artists Society in 1946. He collaborated with the Sèvres Manufactory ("Manufacture de Sèvres") and some of his terracotta creations were adapted into bronze pieces. Since 2000, his work has gained recognition due to the rediscovery of his bronze sculptures found in French collectors' estates. Charles Delhommeau remains one of the most outstanding yet unfairly overlooked sculptors of the Inter-War Period.
