Two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl (lamp)
prusaprinters
EDIT 2:Unfortunately the jury found that two luminous fish in a plastic half-bowl do not qualify as a fishing aid. Strange. Maybe an updated bowl with a notch so you can put it over the frame after wiring, instead of having to loop the wire through, will change their minds, but I doubt it will.EDIT:Since the first attempt I found out two things: the color of the glow in the dark PLA matters a lot for it's brightness; and it's activated by UV light. My first attempt was with “Rainbow” glow in the dark PLA, the second attempt with the more conventional green. The difference was huge. It was also a different brand, so I could be wrongly attributing it to the color. The UV discovery was an even bigger revelation. After only a few seconds exposure to a UV led strip the fishes were glowing like they're from Fukushima. So I glued pieces of led strip to the back of the fish, as seen in the pictures. When the light is on, the have a but of a blue-ish light (mix of UV and the green glow in the dark I guess), when it's off you can almost read a book, so bright are they shining. This was how I had it in mind.Through the bowl, you can't see the led strips or wires (thankfully, because it wasn't my neatest work), so it's really like there's two luminous fishes swimming in space.---I printed the two fish with glow in the dark PLA and the bowl and holder with transparent colorless PETG. The glow in the dark effect is very faint for me, the pictures were taken in the complete darkness after the lamp being on for several hours. Still, I like the lamp when it’s on just as much, the glow effect is more a small bonus.I printed the bowl very slowly without any cooling, to make it as transparent as possible. As a light source, I put a LED strip around the frame, behind the fish, directly against the wall. However, I also tried putting a spot above it bowl, illuminating the fish from above, which had a nice effect. I think it very much depends on how the bowl turns out.
