How does it work? The working of this mask is straightforward, allowing users to transform it into an N-95 mask by inserting a non-woven sheet of cotton into the filter area. It can also be converted into a dusk mask for engineers to shield themselves from hazardous particles found in coating or painting operations. Furthermore, the filter can be easily detached and the mask modified into a ventilator mask with a newly designed air-pipe nozzle tube attachment apparatus. Why this design for a mask? The shortage of N-95 masks following the first death from COVID-19 in China prompted the creation of this mask using 3D printing technology. Like the scarcity of dusk masks, construction workers faced significant challenges when these essential tools became difficult to obtain. Millions of painters and construction workers rely on dust masks to protect themselves from allergic particles and toxic substances found in paints or products they use daily. Exposure to these chemicals can lead to serious health problems. The mask consists of two parts: the mask itself and the filter. The mask features four tight supports for part 2 (filter) or the nozzle for a ventilator. The filter is composed of two additional parts: the filter attachment and the filter for large particles like dust and paint. To make it an effective N-95 mask, a non-woven sheet of cotton must be placed on top. The material used for 3D printing is PCTPE PLA filament (flexible filament).
