Two-handled Jug, Caerlaverock Castle
sketchfab
This meticulously crafted two-handled vessel is constructed from a vibrant orange sandy material with a rich dark green glaze. Decorative elements adorn the neck and a distinctive thumbed sagging base gives it a unique appearance. The strips in the shape of a cross on the shoulder are remarkably similar to those found on artifacts produced at the renowned Ashton kiln in Chester during the 1300s. This significant find was unearthed during archaeological excavations of the moat at Caerlaverock Castle between 1955 and 1966.
