The Disk Wobbler is an innovative two-part toy that leverages mathematical principles in its design to deliver smooth and consistent rolling performance. The first photograph showcases two versions of the 4mm thick model, while the second image highlights a single 2mm thick version. To facilitate ease of use, I have uploaded "Disk 4mm.stl," which is the 4mm thick version optimized for slick surfaces. Viewers can witness the prototype's impressive rolling capabilities in the accompanying video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZwH5u_1NmU. The Disk Wobbler's exceptional rolling performance can be attributed to its stable center of mass, which remains relatively constant during motion. This stability is achieved through the strategic placement of attachment slots on the disks, allowing for a precise calculation of their length. While the underlying mathematics may seem complex, it can be simplified using the following equation: Slot Length = Disk Radius * (1 - (1 / sqrt(2))), which approximates to Slot Length = Disk Radius * (.2928932). Over the years, I have observed numerous wood-based implementations of this design, including a recent example showcased in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0NloZfdnHE. For an added challenge and extended roll time, it is recommended to choose a slight incline on a declining surface.
