Two Disc Roller
thingiverse
This fascinating gadget seemingly defies rolling logic, yet performs impressively. A video demonstrates its functionality and explains the physics behind it (http://youtu.be/TgEjxpkzc6s). The build process of this object is captivating as well, with each layer revealing a transforming surface. As a modeling challenge, I aimed to achieve a sculptural, perfect form with smoothly snaking main surfaces - reminiscent of a Moebius strip. It could even make an attractive pendant. For optimal printing, use 0.2mm layer height, two shells (possibly more for extra weight), 15% infill, and rafts with support. ABS material is recommended. To avoid printing issues, lay the object on its side at a 45-degree angle. I'll share a picture once it's completed.
