Two Decorated Teacups
thingiverse
Here are two intricately decorated teacups paired with matching saucers, carefully crafted using openSCAD code from thing:2180347-Teacups with Matching Saucers. The program utilizes decorated spheres as templates, making it possible to employ any roughly spherical object for the design, and allows for either embossed or incised decorations. Two nearly spherical polyhedra were used as templates - one based on a 632 electron solution to the Thomson problem found in thing:393712, and the second utilizing one of Hart's propello polyhedra from thing:1136184. For more information, refer to the openSCAD code. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3 mm Notes: Minimal support was necessary for the handle and bottom center of the cups. The saucers also printed better with support near the bottom center, while the increased curvature near the saucer rim made support there unnecessary. Support angles, specifically designed for the makerbot printer, were 75 degrees for the saucer and 79 degrees for the cup.
