Two Color Chessboard
thingiverse
I recently fell deeply in love with Perry T.'s 4D Staunton chess set and felt an intense urge to create one for myself. The pieces are stunningly beautiful, and the board is incredibly sexy. However, I wanted the board to have a more cohesive look color-wise, and saw an opportunity to make it better! This remix only includes the new squares; you'll need to go to Perry T.'s page at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:40605/ for the rest of the pieces. Importing these into Simplify3D, you can simply set Square Two Color 1's Z height to 0 to make them line up, or select both models and then edit, align selected model origins. I tried making this one piece and then separating the mesh in Simplify to make things easier, but for some reason it couldn't detect two separate models... Obviously, you'll need a two-color printer for this. If you have Simplify3D, take advantage of that dual extrusion wizard! Edit: Apparently, I can't spell 'color.' Criminy...
