Two Color Archimedean Solids - 1
thingiverse
A "Dualstrusion" Replicator arrived, set up on the kitchen table with its built-in leveling algorithm. In under three hours, it printed a two-color test cube identical to the one provided. While waiting for the Replicator, Archimedean solid models for two-color printing were prepared. Four models included: truncated tetrahedron, cuboctohedron, truncated cube, and truncated octahedron. Each model had two stl files that can be merged and printed in two colors. OpenSCAD's polyhedron command is used to create these models. A program is needed to write the openSCAD commands due to shared vertices. The build surface needs careful leveling, as rafts don't work. Some smudges occurred on certain faces of the solids but can be scraped off. Rotating the model around the z-axis may minimize smudging. Fluorescent red and black models look striking.
