Two-axis Camera Gimbal using 2204 motors

Two-axis Camera Gimbal using 2204 motors

thingiverse

This is a Work in Progress. Inspired by https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3207521. I aimed to create a 2-axis gimbal camera mount for my Mavic Clone but couldn't find suitable motors for the design built by Lancerevo21. Instead, I utilized a similar concept that I designed from scratch, employing cheap 2204 brushless Gimbal motors. These motors are significantly larger and heavier than Lancerevo21's design, and as yet untested due to my still pending arrival of a Storm32 Controller. The entire assembly pictured weighs 65g (without camera). Apart from one bracket that secures the Mavic and attaches to my "outer_gimbal_mount", all these files are my original work, although inspired by Lancerevo21's design. If you wish to build this, then you'll need that one bracket (mavic_clone_gimbal_mini_split_v2_1.stl) from his work or design your own. The motors I used resemble: 2204 260kv Gimbal Brushless Motor Hollow Shaft. They're affordable and widely available on eBay, Aliexpress, etc. You will require some super glue to join the (two) motor-mounts to the inner and outer gimbal brackets. The motor mounts are printed separately from the inner and outer gimbal mounts before being glued together. This is necessary because printing them as single parts would compromise their strength. My first attempt at gluing the motor mount to the inner gimbal was unsuccessful, and it wasn't until I noticed that I had failed to glue the motor mount exactly 90 degrees to the gimbal mount that I realized my mistake. You can find more information about my Mavic Clone build on the DIY RC Forum : http://diyrc.co.uk/mavic-build-diaries/new-build-by-a-newbie/msg6143/#new.
