Twisted Extruded Triangle

Twisted Extruded Triangle

thingiverse

I designed a triangle, twisted and extruded from all sides. Plenty is happening here, yet each addition has been incremental. Enjoy the progress! Remember to scale it down for your printer's dimensions, but I discovered that a 25% scale of the original yields impressive results. You can access a second copy of the SCAD file by request, if desired. In the Final Version, I integrated vectors and modules for improved clarity and simplicity. The model is now far easier to read and modify. **Instructions** To learn about linear extrusion, I imported a twisted box STL file but focused on the wire frame instead. Then, I applied the linear extrusion code to my existing triangle SCAD design. The outcome was an appealing yet fragile structure due to the twist opposing the extrusion. To address this, I introduced 'inner' pillars that help stabilize the midpoints of the triangle. Utilizing offset trig functions led to an intriguing experience. Finally, reversing the polarity of the inner pillars revealed a significant difference – what began as a weak spot transformed into a solid foundation by inverting the negative sign.
