Twist Lock Cylinder - Hidden Lock Remix G. Tielke, October 2021 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Modified the locking mechanism to be hidden inside the lid. Remixed from: Twist Lock Trick Box (Cylinder) by 3d-printy September 13, 2021 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4962382 This was modified so that the latches are not visible from the outside. Instead, the latches slide into the Base from the inside only. This makes for a more streamlined lid section. These parts were modified: LID: Hidden Lid Cylinder.stl GEAR: Hidden Gear.stl SPRING: Hidden Spring.stl LATCH: Hidden Latch.stl The remaining parts (Base and Topper) are unchanged from the original. See that Thingiverse entry for the files. The Lid was modified to remove the latch openings, and lower the lock mechanism into the Base slightly. The Gear was made taller to accommodate the changes to the Lid. The Spring was reversed, so it holds the latches outward instead of inward. The Latches were cut down to a simple spear that slides into the openings at the top of the Base. As noted by "3d-printy" - make sure to pre-tension the spring by one gear tooth. This will assure that the latches have a strong hold on the base. NOTE: When pre-tensioning, rotate the gear in the opposite direction from the original instructions, so the latches stick out by default. Make sure to glue the spring and topper. If you do not fully secure these parts, the mechanism may become detached while in a locked state. This is especially important with the hidden lock since there would be no easy way to unlock it again. No support or adhesion needed, except I printed the Latches using a raft. I used a speed of 100 mm/s (40 mm/s for the first layer).
