Twin Tops is my rendition of Grand Illusions' Magneturn. Spinning one top creates motion in the other thanks to magnets. Video of prototype: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woXns1lunyA. Video of Grand Illusions' Magneturn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zllYJokkvV4&t=10s. To build Twin Tops, purchase 10 neodymium disk magnets, each 12mm in diameter and 3mm thick. Designed using Fusion 360, sliced with Cura 2.3.1, and printed in PLA on an Ultimaker 3 Extended. Printing and Assembly: Printed on an Ultimaker 3 Extended at .1mm resolution and 50% infill. To correctly orient the magnets, stack all 10 together, then one by one mark each topmost magnet with an "X" using an indelible ink pen. Slide that magnet off the stack, repeat with the next until all 10 are marked. Position the Top arm magnets into the 6 arms with the "X" facing outward. Position the Base tower magnets into the towers with the "X" facing upward. Finally, position the Top center magnets into the top with the "X" facing downward. The "X" must be visible when looking into the top. Slide the tops onto the Base towers and spin.
