Twin Row Cable Holder
thingiverse
There are many cable organizers available, but none that efficiently store and provide easy access to a large number of cables in a limited space with two rows designed side by side. So, I created my own design initially for USB Cables, later expanding it to accommodate larger types. What's inside the box: Two long cable holders with different spacings are included. The 6 mm version (21 cm wide) works well with USB, network, and audio cables (see lilac, white, and blue prints). The 8 mm version (green print, 20 cm wide) holds power and video cables of all kinds. Additionally, a small box is provided for storing cable adapters and other accessories. I printed these holders using an Ender 3, which can easily handle 21 cm prints without any issues. For those with smaller printers or workspaces, I've included short versions (indicated by the suffix in the filenames) that should fit on a 10 cm bed. My first test print was the lilac one (located to the left of the yellow box). Unfortunately, it dropped immediately after printing and landed on a concrete floor, causing two arms to break (seen in the bottom right corner). I repaired them using a 3D pencil and added an invisible inner tunnel for increased stability. However, this print had poor quality overall, which was later attributed to a new nozzle with an incorrect diameter. This may have also contributed to the reduced stability. You can notice that the yellow box suffered from the same print quality issues. Trivia: These cable organizers are an indirect result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Working from home for five weeks meant using my small "electronic lab" extensively, which had a cluttered look even before the pandemic. The cables behind the door were held by parallel screws and frequently fell down in bundles whenever I moved the door. To address this issue, I designed a holder that keeps the cables from falling, which works very effectively. Due to the stacking design (three to four USB cables fit in one slot), you may still need to move several cables to access the required one. However, the neighboring cables remain tight and no longer cascade down, providing a welcome relief for my tired back. Sharing ideas means putting in extra effort to present them, but I appreciate the concept of "common online brainstorming," where we share ideas to evolve the outcome beyond our individual imagination. Perhaps your suggestions will inspire new creativity... so please share any remixes you create, and I'll be happy to follow along. Thank you!
