Twin Inlet Dust Cyclone
grabcad
The cyclone comprises three primary components and an attachable elbow for ceiling installation. It features two 4-inch inlets, a 5-inch outlet, and a 6-inch bottom. Additional elements include an elbow for the impeller and a 6-inch flange for the canister. Manufacture of these parts is possible using a printer with a 14x10x14-inch capacity, such as a Stratasys F370 in white ASA. The design centers around a 2HP Dust Collector from Harbor Freight. Although mounting the turbine to the ceiling was noisy, it prevented dust from falling to the floor and redirected it upward. After posting initially, I integrated a second Harbor Freight dust collector with a wye after the vortex and secured both baggers to the ceiling for optimal functionality. The system exhibits strong centrifugal force indicated by small rattling chunks inside.
