Tweeran (2 stringed instrument)
thingiverse
The Tweeran is an exclusive instrument I created, boasting two strings that produce a rich and unique sound. Named after the Dutch phrase "twee snaren," which translates to "two strings," it features a built-in floating neck tremolo that reacts sensitively to any movement. To play this innovative instrument, you'll need to utilize your right thumb and pointer finger to press down on the 2 nylon strings, which are tuned specifically to E and A. The 11-inch fretless neck is designed for left-handed playing, allowing for smooth gliding across the strings with your left hand. Bending notes can be achieved by physically flexing the instrument in half, creating a distinctive tonal shift. Notably, the neck of the Tweeran is not rigidly attached to its body but instead relies on a precise balance of rubber bands and string tension to maintain its position. The design files for this remarkable instrument include multiple variations, including two body styles (deep and shallow) and three distinct neck types (free note bending, down note bending only, or no note bending at all). Each combination affects the overall playing experience, allowing users to tailor their Tweeran to suit their unique style. For instance, a shallow body paired with a free-bending neck enables both upward and downward note bending, resulting in a convenient yet relatively quiet sound. In contrast, I prefer using a shallow body with a down-bending only neck, which restricts note bending to downward movements and enhances the strings' resonance.
