TVC15
pinshape
This sculpture draws inspiration from a haunting image etched in my mind since childhood. I recall stumbling upon a disturbing comic book cover at Hastings books store around the age of 6. The illustration depicted a screaming crowd as flying bat-winged creatures descended upon them, one of which was attached to a man's head, draining his brains out while releasing a foul brown sludge down his face. This image has stuck with me, not only because it unsettled my young brain but also due to the mystery surrounding the story behind it. Despite numerous attempts to track down the comic over the years, I couldn't crack the code; I wasn't able to read at the time and lacked a title to guide my search. Over the years, I've woven my own narratives around the image, ultimately settling on the classic trope of secret government experiments gone awry. This sculpture brings to life the testing of subject TVC15 just prior to the catastrophic (or was it deliberate?) unleashing of the creatures upon the world. The 3D model was crafted in Zbrush and hollowed out for printing using the Zbrush shell function with a thickness set at 12mm to minimize material usage. Designed as a single piece, this model is ideal for printing on an SLA printer. If I decide to produce it as a model kit in the future, I'll detach the wings to cast them separately. I had the model printed at 80mm tall with a .025mm resolution on a Form2. The settings and orientation can be seen in one of the attached photos. This sculpture was created during a live streaming session on Twitch. You can view the session at https://www.twitch.tv/bristlebane1000
