On top of the 535-meter-high Misina peak of the Mecsek Mountain stands the TV tower that reaches an impressive 197 meters high. This iconic building treats visitors to a breathtaking circular panorama. Gazing southward, you can see the city of Pécs in the distance, behind which lies the Baranya Hill Ridge and the majestic Villány Mountain. Looking east, the Zengő peak rises majestically into view, while westward the Tubes peak comes into focus. Directly north, the imposing massif of the Mecsek Mountain stretches towards the horizon. From this spot, clean air allows you to see for miles – even as far as the Badacsony or the Croatian Papuk Mountain. In a fascinating twist, a previous TV tower once occupied the same site; built in 1908, it was known as József Kiss's lookout tower until the 1960s. Rising majestically into place today is the current structure, made from an impressive 18,500 tons of ferroconcrete. Designed by the ingenious trio of István Vízvárdy, Gusztáv Söpkéz, and József Thoma, this magnificent tower is an engineering marvel. A high-speed elevator within the building allows guests to zoom effortlessly to a 75-meter height, where a glass wall treats them to an unforgettable view while they enjoy their meal at the restaurant. From this lofty vantage point, it's a short stroll into a small yet captivating exhibition room – where you can discover the geology of the Mecsek Mountains, including the incredible Mecsek dinosaur (Komlosaurus), and learn about the unique flora and fauna that call this remarkable landscape home.
