TuuTree Terminal device is a versatile component designed for upper limb prosthetics, specifically tailored to fit the needs of individuals with trans-radial amputations. Originally developed for a child in Nigeria, this innovative terminal device has undergone significant design iterations to enhance its functionality and accessibility. With a base diameter of 48mm, the proximal adapter provides a sturdy foundation for optimal performance. Measuring 103mm from the wrist joint, the palm component offers seamless integration with the user's prosthetic limb. The TuuTree Terminal device can be printed using various materials, including hard plastics such as PLA and PC, or flexible TPU for added flexibility and durability. Printing in TPU allows for a greater range of motion, enabling users to bend their 4th and 5th fingers around larger objects, expanding its potential applications. Print layer height is adjustable, accommodating different resolutions and print times. A minimum of 0.2mm yields satisfactory results, while reducing the layer height to 0.1mm produces a more realistic skin texture on the printed device. For optimal safety and performance, users are advised to consult their local prosthetic practitioner before attaching the terminal device to their prosthetic limb. Additional guidelines for maintenance and safety can be found at enablingthefuture.org/safety-guidelines/. Assembly instructions are available in PDF format or through a video tutorial accessible via https://youtu.be/DtROpDySdJE. A revised version of the TuuTree Terminal device, known as Palm and Finger Fusion 2 - Iteration, has been introduced, featuring a cable hole that passes through a bolt for added stability.
