Using SolidWorks to Create 3D Printing Files In this tutorial, we will be using SolidWorks to create a 3D printing file. This is a crucial step in the 3D printing process as it ensures that your design is optimized for printing. The first step is to launch SolidWorks and create a new part. To do this, click on "File" in the top left corner of the screen and select "New Part." Next, we will need to create a sketch of our object. This can be done by clicking on the "Sketch" tab at the top of the screen and selecting "New Sketch." Once we have created our sketch, we can start extruding it into a 3D model. To do this, click on the "Features" tab and select "Extruded Boss/Base." Now that we have our 3D model, we need to add support material. This is done by clicking on the "Features" tab and selecting "Add Support." Next, we will need to export our file in a format that can be read by the 3D printer. To do this, click on "File" and select "Export." Finally, we will upload our file to the 3D printer and start printing.
