Here is my version of the respirator cap, made specifically to accommodate a .25" short flare nut that connects to a brass tube on one end, and fits snugly inside a standard 2.5" PVC pipe. I cut the PVC pipe to a length of 3.75", but you may need to adjust this dimension depending on your particular setup.
