Tusken Raider Rebreather / Respirator
thingiverse
I'm crafting a Tusken Raider costume, and I need to replicate the distinctive rebreather/respirator seen under their chin. To determine accurate dimensions, I consulted the Krayt clan forum thread at http://www.kraytclan.com/forum/topic/2189-accurate-moisture-traprespirator-dimensions-logic-check/. Based on these specs, I designed my own version using a 3D modeling software. To print this design, I required three separate components: Cylindar, TransitionBlocks, and EndCaps. I chose PLA as the printing material and used gel superglue to assemble the TransitionBlocks with the EndCaps. Next, I glued the EndCaps to the Cylindar using the same type of glue. The EndCaps feature 1/4" holes, which I plan to fill with 1/4" aluminum rod. To accommodate this, I had to slightly enlarge the holes but not excessively so. Then, I applied E6000 glue to secure the aluminum rods within the EndCaps. To give my rebreather a more authentic look, I wrapped the Cylindar with simulated leather and used E6000 glue for attachment. For those interested in modifying this design, I've included the original 123d design files along with the STL files for further customization. Here are the print settings I employed: * Printer: Wanhao Duplicator 5s Mini * Rafts: No rafts were used. * Supports: No supports were generated. * Resolution: .20mm layer height was chosen for optimal detail. * Infill: A 30% infill density was selected to balance print speed and structural integrity.
