TUSH spool holder for ATX power supply
thingiverse
This design closely resembles the TUSH spool holder but is specifically intended for use atop an ATX power supply. Like TUSH, it necessitates printing four pieces and requires four 608 bearings. One may question the rationale behind placing a spool holder on top of a 3D printer's frame supported by an ATX PSU. Two compelling reasons exist: Firstly, ATX power supplies from old computers are readily available, often superior to cheap Chinese alternatives designed for LED applications. This option is particularly appealing since it offers a more reliable and efficient power source. Secondly, placing a weight (spool) directly on the 3D printer's frame can introduce vibrations that manifest as lower frequency oscillations with increased amplitude, ultimately exacerbating Z wobble in prints, especially if the spool is not centrally positioned. By decoupling the spool holder from the frame, print quality tends to improve. The accompanying FreeCAD file allows for modifications should you wish to make any adjustments.
