Turtle Shell Racer High Power Edition Repaired

thingiverse

This is a completely Repaired set of STL files for the Turtle Shell Racer High Power Edition! Special thanks to Skimbal for creating the original design at Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10526). I encountered an issue while finishing the final prints of SHELL TOP A & B (all other parts printed correctly). I was able to repair the outdated STL files using netfabb Basic and decided to fix all the files in case others were experiencing problems with any STL files (some errors may still exist). I'm building electronics as well. I will update this list when possible. 3/01/16 UPDATE: I added the original PDF instructions for convenience (will make improvements soon), and created 2.8mm filament STLs for attaching the shells together (I didn't have the required 3mm filament). 3/06/16 UPDATE: I replaced gear 1 and 3 with new files (also kept the original files) The new gear 1 has a smaller inside diameter of 2mm to fit a 2mm electric motor shaft. The new gear 3 is thicker with a smaller inside diameter for a much better fit. Print all gears with 100% infill so they don't break. I modified the wheelie bar so the dive gear will not hit it. Also added Turtle Shell Racer Assembly and Parts (Updated) PDF! 3/12/16 UPDATE: I purchased all electronic components from Hobbyking.com and have some advice. The gear ratio needs to be tightened up and possibly changed. Motor and ESC: This motor is a little fast for this project, I think they make one with a slightly smaller Kv. You can find it at http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__42801__TrackStar_1_18th_Scale_12T_Brushless_power_System_5050kv_USA_warehouse_.html Servo: I bought the servo that was originally recommended, but I would recommend this one instead. You can find it at http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__36916__Turnigy_8482_TGY_9018MG_MG_Servo_2_5kg_0_10sec_13g_US_Warehouse_.html Battery: I bought a 3s 35c LiPo, but this was a mistake! Please get a 2s Lipo either a 30c or 35c and around ~2000 to 2500mAh. For example, you can find it at http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__10273__Turnigy_2450mAh_2S_30C_Lipo_Pack.html The rest of the supplies you can refer to the original electronic PDF. If you're new to Hobbyking.com, please note they have several warehouses to choose from. If they're out of stock in one, they usually have it at another. I got everything from the USA Warehouse West.
