Turntable for Wooden Train System
prusaprinters
Add this fun railway turntable to your wooden model railroad collection.PrintingAll pieces were printed with PLA at 0.25mm layers with 10% cubic infill. Supports should not be needed, as long as you print the cover upside down. It's recommended that you orient the cover and the base so that corner with the small gear is in the same corner of the print bed (see the screenshots for reference). This way, if your printer has any skew in the X-Y plane, the cover and base will be skewed equally and will still fit together.AssemblyPlace the gears into the base.Place the cover over the base and press it down. Place the knob over the hex shaft. The base is designed to fit exactly inside the cover. There are no snaps to hold the pieces together. My kids actually have more fun taking the turntable apart and putting it back together than they do using their trains with it, hence the decision not to make the assembly permanent or difficult to take apart. However, if your pieces fit too loose, you may need a spot of glue to help hold them together. If they are too tight, place one of them inside a freezer to shrink it slightly before assembling. The gears may mesh a little tightly at first in some places, but work them and they should loosen up pretty quickly.
