Right now at school we're learning various methods to scan objects. We're using regular cameras instead of scanners so it seemed like a good idea to use a rotating object instead of going around them. We print a lot, which means we have plenty of filament rolls on hand. Lately I've been thinking about an idea that would allow me to reuse them. At the start of this project, I simply thought about designing an interface that would enable me to utilize the used filament rolls. The bigger plate attached to the motor was added later when a teacher requested a motorized version. If you don't have access to a motor, just glue the lower part to a piece of wood and you'll be finished in a couple of hours.
