Turnbuckle mount
thingiverse
This is a two-piece mount designed to support an adjustable shelf for a projector. The back of the shelf will be hinged to the wall, and the front will feature two identical assemblies. The two pieces slide together over a 1/4" turnbuckle eye. I am using a 1/4" threaded rod with a turnbuckle at the shelf end and a rod end clevis and pin eye bolt at the ceiling. Note that one end of the turnbuckle features right-hand threads, while the other end has left-hand threads. To replace the right-hand side with standard threaded rod is possible, but not the left-hand side. So I am using this mount on the left-hand side of the turnbuckle. I could not find a suitable mount like this, so I designed and printed one myself. I used a 3D printer to create it with 4 shell layers and 40% infill, resulting in a very strong structure that can withstand manual stress. Printing clevises was also an option, but I opted for ordering them instead. The turnbuckles were reasonably priced at $1.13 each from Menards and proved more than sufficient for this application. The bolt holes are 4 mm and accommodate #6 bolts, while the main pivot cylinder has a diameter of 9 mm. A side note about projectors is that I made this mount to support a projector and expected to adjust the angle of the shelf by approximately 10 degrees downward, ensuring the projector aimed directly at the screen. However, doing so necessitated the use of keystone adjustments, which restored the rectangular shape of the picture but ruined the aspect ratio. This resulted in empty spaces either on top and bottom or on the sides. The correct approach is to mount the projector level so it is perpendicular to the screen, ensuring a 90-degree angle and square alignment. Then, utilize lens shift adjustments without resorting to keystone corrections at all. This allows maintaining the correct aspect ratio (16:9 in my case), ensuring a seamless picture fill on the screen. https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-x-Marine-Grade-Stainless-Steel-lag-Screw-Lifting-Eyebolts-Eye-Bolt-6mm-to-12mm/253413901158?hash=item3b00a54366:m:mh6OhXEgYGKpyhc8VIX8OyQ:sc:USPSFirstClass!55337!US!-1:rk:1:pf:0&var=552579031438 https://www.mcmaster.com/rod-end-clevises
