Turn Table, Uses BB's Not Bearings
thingiverse
I searched far and wide for a turntable to use in my 3D scanning projects, but every one I found relied on bearings - that just wouldn't do. So, I decided to design my own turntable using BBs instead. I'm currently using aluminum ones, but the type of BB shouldn't make a difference, as far as I can tell. Now that the design is complete, all I need to do is print it out and see how well it works. Instructions: To build your very own turntable, simply print out the .stl file twice - it should come together seamlessly. Then, fill in the gap with BBs and you're good to go! Update: I just finished building my turntable and I'm thrilled with how it turned out! To be honest, it's a lot smaller than I expected - only 1.5 inches across. If I decide to print another one, I'll need to try and scale it up a bit. But for now, the BBs fit perfectly and rotate smoothly.
