Turn Table for ObjectVR
thingiverse
This is a Turn Table to make ObjectVR. ObjectVR works like this. You can rotate the figure by mouse or finger on your PC, smartphone, or tablet. http://www.11moon.com/m200/turn_table/instructions/sample_movie_1/VR_photo.html Drag in the picture to rotate it. Rotate the mouse wheel or pinch in the picture to zoom it. Double click in the picture to enter fullscreen. Actually, ObjectVR is a set of photos, so making one isn't that difficult. It's 25 years old technology, and most problems come from "how to take many photos in regular angles." So I made this Turn Table. This turn table is controlled by microcomputer and has IR remote function to shoot camera. Rotating things and taking photos are done automatically in 1 minute. Also, the next few steps on PC are done automatically, so you can make one ObjectVR content in 5 to 10 minutes without effort. To make ObjectVR: You need a digital camera with IR remote function (5D doesn't). You don't need an expensive DSLR or mirrorless camera; a cheap compact camera is enough. Currently, my program only works with Canon cameras, but it's possible to expand to other makers. You need a PC to edit photos or composite them into ObjectVR. Smartphones and tablets aren't enough. You can use both Mac or Windows. Photoshop may be the most popular software for editing photos, but it's not good at handling many photos. So I'm using CINEMA 4D, a 3D software. Or you can use a movie editor like AfterEffects. Also, you need ObjectVR editor "Object2VR." But you can write similar functions by JavaScript with your own hands, or you don't need them if you just replace photos in a template. You need an ordinary Web server to publish ObjectVR. A few years ago, it was possible from Dropbox-like services, but it may not work now. You can rent a small Web server for free. Note: Only "board_105B.stl" is not for 3D printers; it's for CNC milling machines with ø0.1mm engrave cutters. It's also possible to use the Turn Table as a 3D scanner with image analyzing software like "PhotoScan." For example, in the following ObjectVR, the left one is the original STL, and the right one is the reconstructed model from ObjectVR. Then it was taken from a 3D printed model of the original STL. http://www.11moon.com/m200/Woman_Torso/VR4/photoscan.html https://youtu.be/HA0nVab4N94
