I had an old HP photosmart C3190 that I wanted to repurpose for scanning a pinball play field from scratch. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as planned due to the top cover's design. To accomplish this, you need a scanner with a flat bed, but these have become extremely difficult to find nowadays. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and disassemble my printer, removing the sides and top cover in the process. Next, I removed the useless LCD screen that was taking up valuable space. The calibration white band on the glass had to go as well, so I taped it out of the way. To create a stable flat bed surface, I added four 3D printed pieces to prevent the glass from sliding around. A few pieces of tape helped secure the glass in place and prevented it from falling when turned upside down. With these modifications, my scanner was now functional as a flat bed model. Unfortunately, the video that showcases this process is in French, so I apologize for any inconvenience that may cause.
