Established under license from Fiat Automobiles, Turkey's Turkish Automobile Factory Joint Stock Company was founded in 1968. The foundation stone for the Bursa-based factory was laid on April 13th, 1969, and it has since expanded to a total area of 735,170 square meters. By February 12th, 1971, series production was underway. Currently, the facility employs 8,500 workers in the Bursa-Yalova industrial zone.
