Turbulators

thingiverse

Turbulators are customarily mounted on wing surfaces, precisely 30% from the edge, with the intention of suppressing drag and converting laminar airflow into turbulent flow, effectively bursting stagnant air pockets at the separation point. This particular turbulator is a zig-zag strip measuring 60° by 4cm, commonly used in sailplanes but demonstrating impressive performance on various other models as well. Its versatility makes it suitable for installation on aircraft with wingspans ranging from 1m to 3m, and even on sailboat keels. The thickness of the turbulator can be adjusted between 0.4mm and 0.6mm, depending on the model's size requirements. To achieve this, simply configure your 3D printer to print multiple layers, allowing for seamless joining of the strip. The resulting dimensions will fit comfortably within most printers' available build areas.
