Turboshaft Engine, Free Turbine Type with Inlet Particle Separator (IPS)
cults3d
High-speed rotating blades in engines can be severely damaged and lose power due to wear caused by the ingestion of foreign matter and dust. Helicopters that often take off and land on unpredictable sites near the ground surface require a device to prevent such inhalation. These devices are typically integrated into the helicopter structure, but some turboshaft engines also have them as part of their engine structure, known as "integrated inlet particle separators" or IPS. This model has a straightforward design for easier understanding. Here are its key features: ① Special Inlet case with vanes and air passages that produce swirl force, scroll ducts to collect particles, and an oil tank. ② A blower driven by the Accessary Gearbox is attached to the Scroll. ③ The engine is of free turbine type with a direct output power shaft. ④ It has an axial and impeller combined type compressor. ⑤ No metal bearings are used in this model to reduce costs. ⑥ Optional clamps are available for easier separation of IPS, GG, and FT. The assembly manual (PDF format, 17 pages) includes detailed instructions on "Parts-List," "After printing treatment," and "Assembly procedure" based on standard skills such as filing, drilling, tapping, and painting. To purchase parts, you will need aluminum tubes (φ4, 6, 8), micro screws (M1.4x3.5L & M1.4x6L for direct screw-in to 1 mm dia hole without nut), and screws (M2 x **) as listed in the Parts List. The STL file contains a total of 41 items, including the stand and tools. The last two digits "ws" indicate that it is designed with support. The estimated net print time for this model is approximately 82 hours using PLA filament, a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 40% infill, and no raft or support. Note: You may adjust the printing settings based on your experience, such as Raft, Support, Layer Height, and Infill. My models were printed using an "idbox" with a 0.4 nozzle and 1.75 PLA filament. I wish you all the best in your endeavors!
