Turboprop Engine Modified Parts (No.3)
thingiverse
I am a designer of the "Turboprop Engine" project on Thingiverse. Specifically, I re-engineered the New Reduction Gear Assembly to significantly lower the cost of metal ball bearings. This modification is fully compatible with the original assembly and does not compromise its functionality in any way. Notably, the number of bearings required has been reduced from eight to just one. To illustrate this change, I have included a photo comparing the modified parts with their corresponding original components. You can find these files on Thingiverse. The materials used for the gear shaft are three aluminum tubes with an outer diameter of 3mm and a length of 26mm. For optimal assembly, please refer to the provided diagram highlighting the sequence and critical points, marked with "NOTE." When printing the gears, it is recommended to use a 100% infill setting to ensure maximum strength and durability.
