A turbocharger is a high-performance component for vehicles that plays a key role in the exhaust system. As engine RPMs surge upward, a spinning fan kicks into action, propelling boost pressure to the engine to amplify its power output. With an avid passion for cars driving my creativity, I envisioned a design that would embody my personality perfectly. To bring this vision to life, I sourced an image from Google Images featuring a standard turbocharger. Noting that the majority of its shape consists of a circular form, I opted to extrude a circle and apply a fillet to smooth out its edges, effectively creating a turbo-inspired design. Next, I carefully measured the dimensions to replicate the cylinders situated on the top right side, where it interfaces with the engine, and the bottom left, where it connects to the exhaust system. To accurately depict the fan's metal blades spinning rapidly, I incorporated thin rectangular shapes within the housing of the turbocharger, giving it a sharp and realistic appearance. Strategically placing holes in key locations added an element of visual interest, as I scaled up the design and noticed that one of these openings appeared in an unexpected spot - a testament to my ability to think outside the box.
