Turbo Jet MK2 Model Rocket

Turbo Jet MK2 Model Rocket

I'd previously designed a Turbo Jet model rocket to use a BT-80 body tube. Then remixed that one to use a pringles can. The first one flew fine, but got stuck in a tree. The second one never flew well. But neither of those rockets really looked like what I wanted, which was a rocket that looked like a jet engine. They were close, but not close enough. This rocket fits the bill. It's designed to use a BT-50 body tube at it's core with an 18mm (BT-20) motor tube. You can use a standard motor mount, or use the included parts to make a mount. Use a piece of metal from an old wiper blade to make your own engine hooks. It flew fine on a C6-3, though it arced over a bit due to the winds. Note the included decals include some variations for alternative versions of this rocket I had in mind, but those prototypes didn't fly well and are NOT included in this design. Note the long nose cone is designed with a hole so you can put modelling clay into it to get the CG correct. The nose cone on mine weight 17g by the time I was done packing it. The short nosecone is designed to be printed with whatever infill works, probably 100%. I don't know, I didn't try it. I used the longer one. I printed the fins down with supports on a raft. There are internal fins that will need support if you print it upside down and there's probably little benefit to doing it that way. Here's a video of the launch... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZGQroz5s4o
