Turbine Blower for 540-sized Motors
thingiverse
This is a turbine blower. It fits motors with a diameter of approximately 35.8 millimeters and 25 millimeter pitch circle diameter, sized for 540-rated Motors such as KV 3570. Mine runs using a brushless KV 3570 @ 12,000 revolutions per minute and blows very forcefully. There are two types of housings: one with stands, and one without. The turbine rotor fits on both versions, naturally. The inspiration behind this came from the website http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:39755. You're invited to try it out. UPDATE 02-2015: I remodeled the Rotor: Improved geometry for easier printing, enhanced efficiency even at high speeds (tested with 22,000 rpm ~ 350 watts). I also reworked the Housing, both "Gehause" and "Basisplatte": Shortened the feet; reorganized reinforcing ribs on the baseplates; minor cosmetic touch-ups. Additionally, I updated the files, removed diacritical marks. Rebuilt with humor. UPDATE: One more Rotor has been added. It is sturdier and fairly simple to print, even using a nozzle size of 0.6 millimeters and an extruder resembling toothpaste. I also changed the center hole in the mounting plates to fit the diameters of bearing covers sized 13 mm. Cosmetic touch-ups. UPDATE of Update: I uploaded two new Rotor designs. The old versions were inefficient; these ones operate much quieter, producing around 19% more air flow per hour. For the type 92-22, I achieved approximately 295 cubic meters per hour @ 6.5 amperes / 24 volts. Instructions My print settings for this model were using layers with a thickness of 0.1 millimeters. It is recommended at least for the rotor as it contains sharp edges on its top surface and fins. Before accelerating to high rpm values, verify if your rotor turns smoothly and isn't grossly unbalanced. If your printer is well calibrated, or if your filament doesn't resemble cooked spaghetti, you won't need to balance the rotor. If not, try drilling 1 millimeter holes through the base of the rotor; please do not glue anything onto its surface.
